Foosball Table

A foosball table is a table in the same sense that a ping pong or pool table is a table. It is a freestanding structure on which a game can be played. You won’t catch many people eating off one, or doing homework on one. You won’t find one in the kitchen surrounded by chairs, and if you do you’re probably in a frat house.

A foosball table consists of a miniature soccer field in wood or plastic. Surrounding this field are walls several inches tall, creating a boxed in playing area. Spaced throughout the long sides of the table are posts running from one wall to the other, with handles jutting through the walls. These posts have the foosball players attached to them.

Attachment is perhaps the wrong term to use there. The post runs through the center of the foosball men. They are manipulated by twirling the posts, causing their ‘feet’ to move, this is how the foosball is struck. The goal of the game is to get the small, compact foosball into the goal at your opponent’s end of the foosball table.
